The lock assembly cap for the Hoover Conquest, part 41119008, covering the 7069 and the companion 7071.
These are commercial uprights, and this cap finishes the latch assembly. It is small, it sits on the outside, and it is the first thing to go when a Conquest is loaded in and out of a van or caught on a door frame. Once it is cracked or missing, the latch beneath it no longer closes cleanly, and the mechanism starts to work loose from there.
Worth replacing as soon as you notice, rather than taping the machine up and carrying on. A latch working without its cap wears its own mating face, and once that has gone you are chasing a much bigger part on a machine that is otherwise perfectly serviceable.
