This plastic adapter converts a Hoover PortaPower canister from its dumpable cloth bag to disposable paper bags, Hoover Type N, part 4010038N. The adapter itself is part 38663010, and the bag ring is not included.

It fits the PortaPower range: the C2094 and CH30000, the S1015075, and the S1049, S1055, S1075, S1077, S1079 and S1127 canisters, along with the S7065.

The reason to make the change is the bag change itself. Emptying a cloth bag puts a cloud of the finest dust straight back into the air of the room you have just cleaned, which is a problem in occupied buildings and a nuisance everywhere else. A paper bag comes off and goes in the bin with the dust still inside it, and filtration stays consistent between changes rather than depending on how well the cloth bag was shaken out.
