Product details
A wet trail left on the floor while the pump and the hoses are both working normally usually points at the recovery tank rather than anything upstream of it. Part 440003503 is the complete replacement tank, the vessel that holds the dirty water and spent solution the machine pulls back out of the carpet.
Hoover lists it for the FH50130, FH50134, FH50134V, FH50135, FH50135V, FH50136, FH50136V, FH50140, FH50150, FH50151, FH50152 and FH50153, and for the Royal FR50152.

- Function: holds the dirty water pulled back out of the carpet during cleaning
- Watch for: hairline cracks along the seams and around the lid seal
- Replace when: the tank is cracked, no longer seats fully, or leaks at the seams
Because this tank sits under vacuum while the machine draws water back out of the carpet, a hairline crack shows up as seepage from the base rather than as any change in motor sound, which is exactly why the fault gets blamed on a pump first so often. Check the tank along its seams and around the lid seal before replacing anything more expensive, and rinse it out after each use so residue does not build up where the seal has to close. A tank left dirty between jobs is also harder to inspect, since a film across the plastic hides the very cracks you are trying to find.
