The squeegee blade, part 302658002, is the flexible strip that rides against the floor on Hoover FH50150-series steam vacuums, drawing the water the machine lays down back off the carpet as it passes over. It fits the FH50134, FH50134V, FH50135, FH50135V, FH50136, FH50136V, FH50250, FH50250V, FH50251, FH50251V, FH50253PC, FH50253VPC, FH50256PC, FH50256VPC, FH50258, FH50258V and FH50259CDI, and the same blade was also sold for the Hoover 50140 and the Royal FR50152.
Once the blade edge hardens, nicks, or curls, water starts slipping past it instead of being drawn up, and carpet comes out wetter after each pass than it did when the blade was new. A fresh blade re-establishes even contact with the floor so the recovery stroke picks up the water the machine puts down.

Compare the new blade against the old one before fitting it so the length and edge profile match, and look the edge over after each cleaning session, since a blade that has hardened or curled will keep leaving water behind no matter how slowly you pull the machine.
