On a self-propelled Hoover WindTunnel the power drive is worked by a cable, and this support bracket is what holds that cable at the right angle and tension. Part 36131101 fits the U6439-900, U6453-900, U6630-900, U6634-900, UH60000 and UH60010.
When the bracket cracks, the cable is free to move and the drive loses its reference. The machine then creeps forward on its own, drives in surges, or stops assisting altogether - and a self-propelled WindTunnel with no assist is a heavy vacuum to push by hand. Plenty of people replace the cable first and find the same behaviour back within a week.
Look at the cable itself while the bracket is out. Fraying at the ends is common on machines old enough to have broken a support.
