This is the complete brush roll for Hoover Power Drive and WindTunnel uprights, part H401: the roller itself with its bristle strips and end fittings, ready to drop straight in.
Brush rolls wear in a way that is easy to miss, because it happens slowly. The bristles shorten and bend back, they stop reaching into the pile, and a vacuum that used to lift pet hair in one pass now takes three. Hair and thread wound around the ends is the other half of the problem: it packs into the bearing area, drags on the belt, and burns through belts faster than anything else on the machine.
