Kenmore Suction Control But...

Product details

The suction control button on a Kenmore canister vacuum is the small control an operator works to step suction down for delicate jobs and bring it back up for carpet. Kenmore's parts catalog lists this piece simply as the actuator: the button itself, the part fingers actually touch, working the adjustment mechanism beneath it. At full suction the nozzle digs into carpet and rugs; eased back, the vacuum lets go of curtains, throw rugs, and upholstery instead of pinning them to the nozzle.

If a canister that used to have adjustable suction now runs at only one strength, look at this button before assuming the motor or a hose seal is at fault. A button that is jammed, cracked, or missing outright cannot pass your input along to the mechanism it operates, and the machine behaves as though the adjustment feature never existed even though everything downstream of the button still works.

This is part number KC02UDKMZM0H, built for the Kenmore 21814 and 81714 canisters, and it takes the place of the original button in the original mounting position. A button that has failed usually shows it plainly: it sticks in one position, snaps off in your fingers, or goes missing entirely and leaves an open recess in the housing that collects dust and grit around the mechanism underneath.

  • Part: KC02UDKMZM0H, suction control button (actuator)
  • Fits: Kenmore 21814 and Kenmore 81714 canister vacuums
  • Function: the button that works the machine's suction adjustment
  • Install: fits the original mounting position on the two listed models

Confirm the model number on your canister's rating plate before ordering, since buttons that look identical across Kenmore models do not always interchange.
