A jammed rewind is the usual reason a cord will not pull back, and this genuine OEM Kenmore cord reel assembly (Part #591016108) replaces the mechanism on the Kenmore BC4026 and BC4027 canister vacuums. The unit arrives complete with cord and spring-loaded reel, so the whole rewind system swaps as one piece.
When a reel only partially retracts, sticks, or leaves the cord hanging out, the spring or ratchet inside has usually worn or broken.
