This is the black shield for the Kirby Generation 6, part 304414, supplied as the shield alone rather than as part of a larger assembly.
Shields are protective plastic, so they fail the way protective plastic does: a crack across a stress point, a snapped mounting tab, or a piece missing entirely after a knock against a stair nosing. Once one is damaged it stops sitting flush against the machine, and a shield that does not sit flush is no longer shielding anything.
Alongside the Generation 6, this shield fits the Generation 3, G4 and G5, the Ultimate G and Diamond Edition, the Sentria, and the Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum. Compare it against the part you are removing before ordering.
