Kirby part 152604 is the bottom plate covering the G3/AV2 range: the plate that closes the underside of the nozzle from the Generation 3, 4, 5 and 6 through the Ultimate G and Diamond Edition, and on to the Sentria, Sentria II, Avalir, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum.
It does more than cover. The plate is what sets the brush roll's height above the carpet, so its condition is directly a cleaning question. Cracks, chips at the lip, or a plate worn thin from bare-floor use let the roll sit too low or too high, and debris escapes at the edges instead of going up the tube.
Replace it when the plate no longer latches tight or the brush roll contact looks uneven across the width of the head. On these machines it is a tool-free swap.
