Part 196014 is the cord set cover used on Kirby Generation-series uprights, and our fitment data lists it for the Avalir, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum. It is the molded piece that covers where the cord enters the machine and keeps the lead tidy against the body.
It gets broken rather than worn out. The cover takes the hit when the vacuum tips over or is swung into a stair nose, and once a mounting tab snaps the cover rattles, slides along the cord and stops protecting the entry point underneath it. Left open, that entry point is where the cord starts to chafe.
Replacing it is a screwdriver job that restores both the finish and the protection.
