Part 161714 is the frame bracket used on Kirby Avalir-series uprights. It is a structural piece of the chassis: it carries load and holds the components bolted to it in the position the machine was designed around.
Brackets crack from drops, from being levered on during a repair, or from years of the vacuum being hauled up stairs by the wrong handhold. A fractured bracket does not always announce itself. What you notice is a part nearby that has gone loose, sits at an angle, or has started rubbing something it should clear.
This replacement fits the Kirby Avalir, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum. It bolts into the original mounting points at the factory dimensions, so alignment comes back without shimming. While it is apart, check the fasteners and mating surfaces for damage caused by the failed bracket.
