The outer cloth bag on a Kirby Heritage hangs from a support hanger, and part 173681 is the genuine Kirby replacement. It carries the bag's weight and holds its top in the right position over the machine.
When the hanger cracks or distorts, the bag stops hanging square. It sags to one side, the seams take loads they were never designed for, the bag fills unevenly, and it can chafe against the handle or the motor housing until a hole opens up. A cloth bag is a far more expensive thing to replace than the hanger holding it, which is the real argument for fixing this promptly.
It fits the Heritage I, Heritage II, Heritage II Legend and Legend II. With the bag off, check the fill tube and the bag seams for wear before hanging the new one.
