Product details
The exhaust horn gasket, part 601996S, seals the joint where the exhaust horn meets the fan housing on Kirby uprights. It is a small part in a high-pressure position, since everything the fan moves is pushed out through that joint.
Gaskets harden and take a set with heat and age. When this one stops sealing, air escapes at the horn instead of going into the bag, so the machine loses effective airflow and often gets noticeably louder or whistles at the joint. On a Kirby, where the same air path drives the attachments and the shampooer, a leak here shows up across everything the machine does.
It is worth renewing whenever the horn comes off, since a used gasket almost never reseats as well. It fits the Kirby Avalir, Avalir 2, Avalir Platinum, Diamond Edition, Ultimate G, Sentria, Sentria II, G Six, Generation 3, G4 and G5.
