This genuine OEM Kirby latch assembly bottom plate (Part #640689A) protects the underside of the machine and helps hold proper brush-roll height. It fits Gen 3 and a broad Kirby lineup, from the HERITAGE and LEGEND series through the SENTRIA and AVALIR models.
A cracked or warped bottom plate lets debris escape from beneath the machine and can throw off brush-roll contact with the carpet, reducing cleaning efficiency. Replacing the plate seals the underside again and returns the brush roll to its intended height.
