A Kirby headlight runs at a lower voltage than the outlet the machine is plugged into, which is why the bulb rating is not something to guess at. Part 109292S is the 13-volt bulb specified for the Generation 3 headlight fixture, and anything off spec either burns dim or fails early without ever fixing the original complaint.
A dark headlight ranks among the most common small faults on these machines, and it is also the quickest one to resolve. Before suspecting the wiring harness or the switch, check the bulb first, bulb failures outnumber those other causes by a wide margin.
This bulb is also specified for the Kirby Diamond Edition. Give the fixture a few minutes to cool before swapping it out, and grip the glass with a cloth instead of bare skin, oil from fingers can shorten a bulb's working life. Take a moment to check the lens for cracks too while it is off, a damaged lens is often what allowed the old bulb to take a hit in the first place.
Keep a spare bulb on hand if the machine gets used regularly in a dim basement, closet or under furniture, a burned out headlight is easy to overlook until pickup in a dark corner turns into a guessing game about what the nozzle actually passed over.
