Kirby motors are famous for outlasting the machines around them, but the fit between motor and housing depends on one modest part: the tolerance ring. This springy metal band sits between the motor and its housing bore, taking up the clearance so the motor can't shift or buzz against the aluminum casing. If you're rebuilding a Kirby and the motor seats loosely or vibrates more than it should, replace this ring while everything is apart. Part #612795S.
