Sold five to a pack, part 178606S is the small rubber boot that cushions the Generation 3 style handle pivot used on the Kirby Sentria. It sits at the joint where the handle swings, taking up play and keeping the pivot from running metal against metal.
You will usually hear the problem before you see it. The boot hardens, splits and falls out, and the handle starts to knock or wobble as you rock the machine back and forth. Left that way, the wear moves on to the pivot hardware, which is a far more involved repair than a rubber boot.
The five-pack matters here: these are consumable cushions, so having the extras on hand means you can renew the pivot completely now and still have spares in the drawer the next time the handle starts feeling sloppy. They press into place with no tools.
