Extension wand for the Kirby Ultimate G and Diamond Edition, part 224001. It adds a full wand length between the hose and whatever tool is on the end, which is the difference between reaching a ceiling corner from where you stand and going off to find a chair to stand on.
Wands get replaced because they get bent, cracked at the ends, or lost. A wand split at either fitting leaks air the whole time you are using it, and a bent one will not seat properly, so tools wobble in the joint and eventually drop. Both faults show up the same way: the tool feels weaker the further out you work.
This is the Ultimate G and Diamond Edition wand. Check the badge on your machine before ordering, as the fittings vary across the Kirby range.
