Dust cover release latch for Carpet Pro CPU uprights, part 54.124. The latch is the catch that holds the dust cover shut, and it is worked every single time a bag is changed.

Latches break at the spring arm. The cover then pops open while the machine is running — dust escapes, the compartment loses its seal, and the cover itself takes a beating swinging loose against the housing. A latch that has to be pressed hard or held to stay engaged is on its way out.
