Part AC68NDDUZV04 is the lid latch for the Panasonic MC-CG973 canister — the catch that holds the dust compartment lid shut while the machine is running.

Canister lid latches get opened and closed at every bag change, and they are usually the first plastic part to give up. The catch wears round, or the small spring behind it tires, and the lid stops holding. At best it sits proud and lets air in around the seal, which takes the edge off suction; at worst it springs open during use and the compartment empties itself.

A lid that needs a push to stay down, or one that pops when the hose is tugged, is telling you the latch is finished. Fit the new one and check it clicks firmly and resists a light pull before running the machine.
