Black plastic 35 mm wand for Miele canister vacuums, part 54-1940-91. Thirty-five millimetres is Miele's standard fitting, so it seats between the hose handle and the floorhead or any 35 mm tool.
A wand is what puts distance between you and the floor, and it only works if it holds an airtight joint at both ends. Wands crack around the collar after a knock, or the locking detail wears until the tool no longer stays put. Once the joint is loose, air is drawn in at the connection rather than at the nozzle, and cleaning power falls off noticeably.
Measure the outside diameter of your existing wand at the tool end before ordering. Thirty-five millimetres is Miele's usual size, but it is worth checking yours to be certain of the fit.
