Product details
Part 205401 is the two-stage suction motor for the Numatic Henry HVR200A canister vacuum. The single-stage motor used on the standard HVR200 series is a separate part number; this one is built for the A-suffix model and should not be swapped between the two without checking which stage count your machine actually takes.
Two-stage motors trade some raw airflow for steadier suction as the bag loads, which is the reason Numatic specified one for this model. When a two-stage motor is failing, the drop in performance tends to show up gradually rather than all at once: suction that used to hold steady starts to taper off partway through a job, the motor note changes from a smooth hum to something rougher, or it starts cutting out and restarting under load. A sudden burning smell is the exception, and it means stop using the machine and check the motor right away.
Before replacing the motor, rule out the simpler causes. A clogged filter or a bag that has filled will choke a healthy motor and produce the same symptoms. If suction stays weak with clean filters and a fresh bag installed, the motor is the part that needs to come out.
