Product details

Inside the Oreck UK30200's bagged upright body runs a short internal wire connecting the switch assembly to the motor itself, part 430001199. It should not be confused with the cord that plugs into a wall socket, which is an entirely separate component.

Sitting this close to a motor that runs hot and vibrates constantly wears on a wire over years of service. The insulation near the motor's terminals stiffens and eventually splits, individual copper strands fatigue and snap inside the sheath at the flex point tied to handle movement, and the terminal connections themselves loosen their grip over time. An owner sees this as a motor that dies mid-task under any real load, one that behaves normally in some handle positions but not others, or a machine with power everywhere except at the motor, which simply refuses to spin.

Cut power at the outlet first. Before removing the failing lead, take a picture of how the terminals are arranged, since seating the new one in a different spot than the old one occupied can send current somewhere it was never meant to go, and checking the surrounding wiring for the same brittle insulation while everything is already open is worth the extra minute.

  • Part: 430001199
  • Fits: Oreck UK30200
  • Function: internal motor lead, separate from the wall cord
  • Symptoms of failure: the motor dying under load, working in only some handle positions, or refusing to start
