This is the replacement old-style base plate for power nozzles, the bottom panel that mounts to the underside of the cleaning head. The base plate carries the brushroll bearings and forms the sole plate that glides across the floor, setting the gap between the agitator and the carpet while protecting the internals of the nozzle.
This is a universal-fit service part for older power nozzles, including the CT14DX base. It works across Kenmore, Hayden, and NuTone power nozzles that share the old-style plate design. A cracked, worn, or warped base plate causes poor floor contact, brushroll noise, and uneven cleaning. A fresh plate (Part #40295-1) restores a flat, sealed underside and proper brush height.
