Product details

Front caster wheel for the Oreck SV280 canister, part 381098. It carries the front of the body and pivots so the canister tracks behind you instead of fighting the hose.

Casters fail in two ways and both are obvious underfoot. The wheel seizes in its fork, so the canister skids and leaves marks on hard floors, or the pivot wears and the wheel shimmies, so the machine wanders and catches on rug edges. Either way the pull comes through the hose, which is exactly where you do not want the strain, because hose cuffs split from being used as a tow rope.

The replacement presses into the original caster mount during reassembly. Clear the wound hair out of the mount before fitting, since that is usually what stopped the old wheel turning in the first place.
