Oreck Brush Roll - LW100 / LW1500 Magnesium Upright

Part 83020-01 is the roller brush from the Oreck Magnesium upright, fitting the LW100, LW1500RS and UK30500. It is the component that actually does the cleaning on carpet. The motor supplies the airflow, but it is the brush roll that beats the dirt loose so the airflow can carry it away.

Bristles wear round and short with use, and once they no longer reach into the pile the machine still sounds right but leaves the carpet looking flat and dull. Hair and thread wrapping the roller is the other half of the story: it binds the ends, drags on the belt, and eventually cooks it.

Look along the roller at eye level. If the bristles are visibly shorter than the ones at the very ends, which never touch the floor, the brush is worn out and a new one will change how the machine cleans.
