Product details
Part 09-79049-51 is the underside panel of the Oreck U7000 and U7200 Pilot upright, the plate the entire machine rests on, with the intake opening for the nozzle cut straight through its middle. This is the surface that actually meets the carpet and forms the seal keeping airflow moving through the pile instead of leaking around it.
Heat radiating from the nearby motor causes these plates to warp over time, and repeated trips over thresholds and door saddles eventually crack them outright. Once the plate stops sitting flat, the nozzle no longer contacts the floor evenly, brush pressure goes heavy on one side of the strip and light on the other, and outside air gets drawn in through the resulting gap rather than through the carpet fibers themselves. A vacuum in that state can run a perfectly sound motor and still leave streaks and missed passes across a floor that was just cleaned.
With the old plate removed, take the opportunity to inspect the wheels and the brush strip underneath for wrap and uneven wear before closing the housing back up, since both sit exposed at the same moment and are easy to overlook once the fresh plate is fastened into place. This particular plate spans a wide swath of the Pilot lineup, so confirm the exact model against the fitment list below before ordering, since the U7000 and U7200 families share this panel across many trim variants built on the same underlying chassis.
