This genuine Oreck plastic detent (Part #75299-01) is the small locking component that sets and holds the handle recline positions on Oreck XL and U2000 series upright vacuums. The detent engages the handle pivot so the machine clicks securely into its upright, reclined, and flat cleaning angles instead of flopping freely.
When a detent wears down or cracks, the handle stops holding its position and the vacuum becomes awkward to push and to stand up between uses. Installing a new detent brings back the positive, defined handle stops the machine had when new.
