Every Oreck Magnesium upright has a rubber strip running the width of its nozzle, and that strip meets the floor before anything else on the machine does. Part 83025-02 is the replacement for it, covering the LW100, LW1500RS, and UK30500.
Age and floor contact wear this piece in predictable ways: small nicks cut into the edge, the rubber itself turns stiff and glassy instead of staying pliable, or a corner gets torn loose by something sharp underfoot. Once the edge stops running unbroken across the full width, fine dust on hardwood or tile slides right past it instead of getting swept up, and carpet pickup drops off too, because the tight fit that keeps suction concentrated at the brush depends on this strip riding flush.
Swapping it is a quick job done with the machine unplugged and resting on its back, and it may be the least expensive way to bring a tired Magnesium's floor performance back up. A worn strip is easy to overlook next to a bag or belt, yet it does more for day-to-day pickup than either once the vacuum has some age on it. Fit the new strip so it lies flat and level end to end, since a squeegee that sits proud on one side lifts away from hard flooring right where the seal matters most.
Run a finger along the fitted blade to check for any gap before returning the machine to use. Tip the vacuum forward on carpet and confirm the strip meets the pile evenly across its whole length, not only at the center, and recheck it after the first few passes since a new blade can settle slightly once it has been worked in.
