Product details

The front caster is what lets an Oreck SV280 canister follow you instead of fighting you. Part 381098 is the replacement front caster wheel for that machine — the small swivelling wheel that carries the front of the canister body.

Casters take the worst of it. Hair and thread wrap the axle until the wheel stops turning, the swivel seizes, or the wheel itself cracks after enough thresholds and stair edges. A canister with a dead front caster drags rather than rolls, skids sideways when you pull on the hose, tips more easily on turns, and can mark hard floors where a wheel that should be rolling is now sliding.

It goes on as a direct replacement. Clear anything wrapped around the mounting point before the new caster is fitted, and look over the other wheels while you are there — one seized caster usually means the rest have collected the same debris.
