This is a genuine felt motor seal for the Oreck XL upright vacuum series. The seal sits between the motor and its housing, cushioning the motor and forming a barrier that directs airflow correctly while blocking dust and fine debris from working past the motor mount.
Felt seals compress, fray, and disintegrate with heat and age. A worn motor seal lets air bypass the intended path and allows grit toward the motor, which reduces suction efficiency and shortens motor life. Installing a fresh felt seal restores the proper air channel and protective cushioning.
