Groom the dog with the vacuum running and the coat never reaches the carpet. That is the whole idea behind 1497WS: a soft bristle head combs through the fur while suction carries away everything it releases, so shedding season is dealt with at the source rather than chased around the house for the next three weeks. The cuff measures 1 1/4 in. and the 1766ST adapter is needed to join the brush to a SEBO wand.

Start gently and give the animal a few minutes to get used to the noise and the draught before doing any real work. Short strokes along the lie of the coat lift far more than long sweeping ones, and the soft filament set is chosen so that the brush stays comfortable against skin, which is what keeps a nervous dog or cat standing still long enough to be useful. Undercoat, loose guard hairs and the dander that travels with them all go into the bag rather than onto the sofa.

Bristles that have splayed or bent over stop reaching down through the coat and start skating across the top of it, which is the point at which a replacement SEBO grooming brush is worth ordering. The tool is also one of the six pieces inside the pet value pack 1993PK, together with the 1492WS collection-strip nozzle, the 6179ER turbo brush and the 1766ST and 1777ST fittings.
