Beam Cogged Belt - Imperial...

Product details

A cogged drive belt does not give the same warning signs as a plain friction belt. It grips the brush roll until a tooth fails, and then a Beam Imperial power nozzle glides across the carpet without lifting anything at all, with no gradual loss of pickup to warn you first. Part 155686 is the replacement cogged belt for that drive, sold singly.

Cracking visible in the gaps between teeth, or teeth that look worn flat and chalky next to the rest of the belt, is the cue to swap it before it lets go rather than after. Once it does fail, the nozzle keeps running and sounds normal, since the motor and roll bearings are unaffected; only the brush roll itself stops turning.

No special tools are needed to fit the new belt. Route it around the drive gear and the brush roll exactly as the old one ran, since a belt fitted with a twist wears unevenly and can fail again quickly even though it looked correctly seated going on. Spin the roll by hand once the belt is on to confirm it turns freely before closing the nozzle back up, and take a look at the toothed drive pulley for chipped or worn teeth while everything is open.

It is built for Beam's Imperial 1500 and Imperial 1550 units running their original, unmodified powerheads, and also fits the Beam Smart SA7001 and SB2001.

  • Part: 155686, Beam cogged drive belt
  • Fits: Beam Imperial 1500, Imperial 1550 (original powerhead), Smart SA7001, Smart SB2001
  • Symptom of failure: nozzle glides without picking up, cracking visible between belt teeth
  • While replacing: inspect the drive pulley and brush roll teeth for wear
