Powr-Flite catalogs PS972 as a half section of the main brush roll for the PS900 sweeper and the PS900BC version of it. It is sold as a half rather than one full-length roll, so a machine worn on one side can be brought back without replacing the whole assembly.
Wear reads from the floor before it reads on the bench. When a sweeper starts pushing loose material ahead of itself instead of throwing it into the collector, the filament has usually gone short or taken a permanent set. The PS900 gives five main broom height positions for exactly this, position one for new unworn rollers down to position five for worn ones, and running out of adjustment is the clearest signal a section is finished.
Resist solving early wear by simply dropping the broom lower than it needs to be. Powr-Flite's manual warns that setting the brooms too low increases wear on the brushes and on the gear components driving them, which turns a straightforward brush change into a drive repair.
