Product details

Part X9944 is the complete brush roll assembly Tacony lists for the Powr-Flite PF28SV wide-area sweeper vacuum, shipped built up instead of as a bare roll.

The roll is the working end of a sweeper. It is what physically drags debris into the intake, and it also takes on more steady mechanical stress than any other part in the machine. Wear rarely spreads evenly, since whichever stretch of the roll rides hardest against the floor loses its bristle length first, so pickup usually tails off gradually rather than stopping all at once. Once the shortened bristles quit reaching the floor along their whole length, the roll can keep turning freely without collecting anything, and because the motor keeps sounding exactly the same, the drop in performance is easy to blame on something else.

Hair and string wound tightly around the shaft make that wear worse, since they pull the roll out of balance and load its ends unevenly every rotation. Clearing the buildup whenever the bag is changed, rather than leaving it until a jam forces the issue, is what keeps a roll reaching its expected life.

  • Part number: X9944
  • Supplied: complete brush roll assembly
  • Application: Powr-Flite PF28SV wide-area sweeper vacuum
  • Tools needed: 4 mm Allen wrench and 10 mm wrench

Powr-Flite's own procedure runs through the belt cover: take it off to reach the belt and the brush roll screws, draw the old roll out, then fit the new one with the belt looped around its grooved end and turn the screws and nuts back in using the 10 mm wrench and the 4 mm Allen wrench together. Spin the roll by hand afterwards to confirm nothing binds before the belt cover goes back on.
