Product details

Part 510258 is the extension tube on the ProTeam ProGen 12 and ProGen 15, the rigid section that carries suction from the hose down to the floor tool and gives the operator the working length to stand upright while cleaning. On a commercial machine run daily, it is one of the few parts that gets grabbed, dropped, and leaned against a doorframe more than it gets looked at.

The failure here rarely looks like failure. A tube that has cracked at an end fitting or worn loose where it seats does not stop the vacuum running, it just stops it sealing. Suction bleeds out at the joint instead of pulling in at the nozzle, and the machine that used to lift a carpet nap now just skates over it. Crews often blame the motor or the bag first, because a slow suction leak in a wand section is easy to miss during a quick visual check.

A dented tube is more than cosmetic, too: a deep dent narrows the bore enough to change airflow the same way a pinched hose does, even when both ends still lock in place correctly. Wipe out the inside before reinstalling if the machine has just come off a dusty job, since anything trapped inside travels straight to the floor tool the next time the vacuum runs.

Fit the new tube fully home at both the hose end and the tool end before running the machine, and tug each connection to confirm it holds firm rather than just resting in place. If suction still feels off afterward, look down the bore for a lodged object before assuming the tube itself is at fault.

  • Part: 510258, extension tube
  • Fits: ProTeam ProGen 12 and ProGen 15 commercial backpack uprights
  • Function: rigid wand section between hose and floor tool
  • Watch for: cracks at either end fitting, looseness where the tube seats, or a dent that narrows the bore, any of which cost suction at the joint
