Product details

Part 104279 is the lockout switch that shuts the brush roll off on a ProTeam ProForce upright whenever the handle is parked upright or set in the wrong position, so the agitator cannot spin when it should not be.

Most failures on this switch fail toward safety: the brush roll simply stops turning, and the machine gives every appearance of a thrown belt while the belt itself remains fully intact and the motor sounds normal otherwise. Less commonly the switch sticks the other way, letting the brush keep turning while the machine sits parked, which can scorch a mark into carpet within seconds if left standing that way. Both outcomes trace back to this one small switch rather than to the belt drive or the motor.

Either fault deserves fixing right away rather than working around it, since a brush that will not stop poses a real risk to flooring and one that will not start is simply a machine not doing its job. Disconnect the vacuum from power before opening it up to reach the switch.

Once the new switch is in, park the handle and confirm the brush stops turning, then return it to the working position and confirm it starts again, checking both ends of the switch's motion before the machine goes back into use.
