Part AC70KJMZ00 is the protector spring for the Panasonic MC-V6807. It is a small tensioning spring, and like most springs in a vacuum it is there to return a component to its rest position and hold it there against the vibration of a running machine.

Springs fatigue rather than fail outright. Over years of compression the metal loses its rate, so the part it acts on stops snapping back — a catch that sits half open, a control that hangs where you left it, a component that rattles because nothing is loading it any more. Stretched, corroded or broken, the fix is the same.

Note which way round the old spring sits and how it is hooked before removing it. Springs of this type are easy to fit backwards and awkward to reach a second time.
