The AquaMate draws its clean water from a household tap, and part R11712B is the adapter that makes that connection on the Rainbow E2 AquaMate. It threads onto the faucet spout and gives the unit's fill hose something to seal against.
Adapters get cross-threaded, the sealing face inside flattens, and the connection starts to weep. A leak here is not just wet - it drops the pressure feeding the shampoo head, so carpet is wetted unevenly, rinsing suffers, and you find yourself going over the same area repeatedly to get a consistent result.
Hand-tighten it and run the tap briefly before connecting the hose, so you know the seal is holding before there is water going through the machine. Faucet threads vary, so check yours against the adapter first.
