Rexair-Rainbow Carbon Brush...

Product details
A small part with a specific job: this screw holds the carbon brush holder against the motor on the Rexair Rainbow D3 and D4, and it is stocked as H309B.
Carbon brushes ride on the commutator under spring pressure, and the holder has to stay exactly where the factory put it for that contact to stay even. A screw that has backed off or stripped lets the holder move a fraction, which is enough to cause arcing at the commutator, a motor that runs rough or surges, and brushes that wear at an angle. Anyone who has had a Rainbow motor apart for brushes is better off fitting new screws than reusing ones that have been in and out.
Unplug the machine before you touch the motor. Compare the thread and length against the original, and order a spare while you are at it; these are easy to lose on a bench.
