This genuine OEM Rexair-Rainbow upper fan spacer (Part #R1984) sets the clearance above the fan on the D-3C motor. It positions the fan on the shaft so air is drawn through the motor along the intended path.

An upper spacer that has worn or cracked lets the fan shift out of position, and the resulting misalignment can bring on vibration, noise, or a drop in suction. Poor spacing also accelerates wear on the fan and bearings. Installing the correct spacer restores the proper gap and steady airflow.
