Genuine Riccar dust compartment assembly, part D224-0246, for 8000 series uprights and the 8955. The assembly ships complete with its tool clips and the updated axle, so a shop replacing a cracked bag chamber gets the mounting hardware in the same box.
This is the body section that houses the paper bag and carries the rear wheels. Damage here shows up as a compartment that will not latch, a bag that seats crooked, tools that no longer clip on, or a machine that rocks because the axle mount has broken away. Since the compartment is also part of the sealed air path, a cracked one leaks dusty air instead of sending it through the filters.
