Aramid felt packing for Riccar 8000 series uprights. The felt forms the tight seal at the agitator, closing the gap where the brushroll shaft passes through the nozzle housing so that suction is drawn through the intended path instead of leaking around it.
Aramid is specified here because the seal rides against a shaft turning at speed and has to take that heat and abrasion without glazing or crumbling. When it finally packs down flat, air short-circuits past the roller and the machine feels weak at the floor even though the motor is fine and the bag is empty.

Order B016-0500B whenever the brushroll comes out for a belt or bearing job. The felt is inexpensive, it is already exposed at that point in the teardown, and a compressed seal will quietly undercut every other repair you just made.
