Part D431-3200 supplies the wire harness and its switch together as one serviceable unit for Riccar and Simplicity 4000 and 6000 series uprights. Ordering the two together removes the guesswork of working out which of them has failed, since a fault at either can produce the same symptom at the handle.

Symptoms at this point rarely name their own cause. A machine that cuts power intermittently, needs the switch worked back and forth before it will start, or drops out under vibration could be a worn switch contact or a broken conductor inside the harness, and telling the two apart means opening the assembly up, which is exactly why it is sold as one combined part.
