Part B388-4300B is the improved-revision motor outlet seal fitted to PV-chassis Riccar and Simplicity uprights, replacing the earlier design it superseded.

An outlet seal is not the motor and not the filter, it is the gasket that closes the joint where air leaves the motor housing. When it hardens or compresses, air finds the gap instead of the intended path, and the result is a machine that runs but pulls noticeably less at the floor and sounds louder doing it. That kind of loss is easy to blame on the motor or the filter first, since the seal itself is out of sight.

Fit a new seal any time the motor housing is opened for service, since a compressed seal seldom seals as tightly once it has already been used. Check the shape of your old seal against B388-4300B before ordering, as PV uprights have carried more than one outlet seal design.
