Part B480-4600 is the post filter seal fitted to MV-series Riccar and Simplicity uprights. Rather than being the filter itself, it is the gasket that fills the space where the post filter meets its housing, so exhaust air passes through the media as intended instead of slipping past the rim unfiltered.

Failures here tend to hide well. The machine keeps running and the filter continues to look fine on inspection, yet once this seal hardens, tears, or disappears altogether, a portion of the motor's exhaust escapes the filter path unchecked.
