Part B480-5814 is the right-side motor cover seal, black, for Simplicity Synchrony and Riccar Brilliance upright vacuums. Fitted along the right edge where the motor cover meets the body, this seal keeps the airflow contained on its intended route instead of leaking out at the cover's edge. It is the seal by itself, distinct from both the cover it seals and the motor housed beneath it.

A seal that has shrunk, torn, or been pinched during a past repair opens a path for air to skip past the motor route entirely, and floor suction falls off even though the rest of the machine is unchanged. Because it is inexpensive, ruling this seal out first makes sense before chasing a bigger cause, particularly on a machine whose motor cover has already been removed and refitted a few times.
