The nozzle base tray is the underside plate of the cleaning head on Riccar R30 series and MV upright vacuums. It forms the floor of the brushroll chamber, sets the height of the suction opening over the carpet, and carries the UL engraving in black on the visible face. Everything the vacuum picks up passes across this tray, so it wears from abrasion and can crack if the machine is run over a hard obstruction.
A warped or worn base tray leaks airflow around the brushroll, which shows up as weak pickup on carpet even when the bag and filters are fresh. Fitting a straight tray restores the seal at the floor.
