Riccar R25 Upright Spring Assist

Riccar part C601-3000 restores the spring assist mounted behind the handle recline mechanism on the R25 upright line, covering the R25D, R25P and R25S variants sold under that platform. It supplies the tension that lets the handle glide smoothly through its range rather than dropping under its own weight or fighting every degree of tilt as it goes back.

Once this spring stretches or snaps, the assisted feel is the first thing to disappear, ahead of any other change noticeable in the machine. The handle either turns stiff and fights being pushed back, or loses tension entirely and drops on its own the moment it is released, and neither is convenient when reaching under a bed frame or into a tight space with the machine tipped all the way down. It is a purely mechanical failure with nothing electrical involved anywhere along that path, and a common wear point on a machine that has logged years of daily household use.

Fitting a new spring restores smooth, even control across the handle's entire range, from upright storage down to full recline against the floor, without any dead spots along the way. Because the spring stores tension even while the machine sits still, keep fingers well clear of the recline pivot while it is disconnected mid-repair, since that stored force releases suddenly the instant the old spring comes free of its mounting point on either end of the linkage.
